A candidate must be one of the following:

  • A Citizen of India

  • A subject of Nepal or Bhutan

  • A Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962

Educational Qualification


  1. Officer Scale-I (Assistant Manager)

    • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized University or equivalent.

    • Proficiency in local language.

    • Working knowledge of Computer.

  2. Officer Scale-II General Banking Officer (Manager)

    • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks.

    • Two years experience as an officer in a Bank or Financial Institution.

  3. Officer Scale-II Specialist Officers (Manager)

    • Information Technology Officer: Bachelor’s in relevant field + 1 year experience.

    • Chartered Accountant: Certified Associate (CA) + 1 year experience.

    • Law Officer: Law degree + 2 years experience.

    • Treasury Manager: Chartered Accountant or MBA in Finance + 1 year experience.

    • Marketing Officer: MBA in Marketing + 1 year experience.

    • Agricultural Officer: Relevant bachelor’s degree + 2 years experience.

  4. Officer Scale-III (Senior Manager)

    • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks.

Exam Pattern


IBPS RRB PO Prelims Exam Pattern

The preliminary exam will be conducted in online mode. Candidates will have to solve 80 questions within 45 minutes (with sectional timing for each section). There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

IBPS RRB PO Mains Exam Pattern

Candidates who qualify for the prelims will proceed to the mains. The mains exam consists of 5 sections with a total of 200 marks, to be completed in 120 minutes with sectional timings for each section. A negative marking of 0.25 marks applies for every wrong answer.

Candidates applying for Officer Scale-II (General Banking Officer) will have to appear for a single-level exam. The exam will consist of 5 sections, and candidates must secure minimum qualifying marks to be eligible for the interview.
